•To offer legal and practical advice on commercial and residential conveyancing transactions and assist other case handlers and partners as appropriate.

•To deal with all aspects of commercial property transactions (and if necessary to assist on residential transactions and when appropriate).
•Commercial property transactions includes: the acquisition and disposal of development sites (either conditionally or unconditionally) for residential or commercial development; the acquisition or disposal of investment property; Landlord and Tenant work (including the grant of new leases and ongoing management
•To be responsible for allocating work to one or more secretaries
•To assist from time to time in the marketing of the firm by contributing to the firm’s newsletter and by attending seminars and functions
General
•To make your contacts with clients a high priority and to convey a high degree of courtesy and responsiveness to the clients’ needs.
•To work as a team member with support staff and other case handlers
•To anticipate problems and difficulties and take suitable actions.
•To strive to represent the firm's Mission Statement to both staff and clients and the outside world and in particular to convey the impression of a united team.
•To aim to assist the firm in achieving its objectives as contained in the Business Plan
•To be continually sensitive to all facets of the overall quality of service being received by clients.
Specific
•To act as "line manager" for staff who report to you, i.e. to supervise the effective performance of their work, to develop them through the annual appraisal procedure and through daily guidance (liasing with anyone else to whom they report), and to ensure that they put into practice the training they receive.
•To deliver accurate and up-to-date legal advice to clients that takes account of the commercial pressures on clients.
•To give clients "value for money", and to participate in ensuring that the firm plans to transact work that maintains and improves profitability.
•To meet profit cost targets and other agreed targets in areas such as the generation of new business.
•To participate in the marketing of the firm.
•To answer telephone calls quickly and to deal quickly with messages.
•To set up and maintain an efficient system of diary management.
•To ensure that the firm's procedures are followed in respect of:
1) File and Case Management
2) File supervision and audit
3) Accounts procedures
4) Presentation guidelines
5) Money laundering and compliance
•To deal quickly with correspondence and to maintain regular contact with clients on current cases.
•To ensure that support staff working under your instruction and other staff have the equipment and working conditions needed to do a good job.
•Any other duties that may be required and which are considered by the line manager to be consistent with the grade and the general responsibilities of the post

•To take personal responsibility for your own continuing professional development and to maintain your legal and managerial skills at an up to date and good standard.
•To contribute to the flow of information within the firm.
