Engineering Manager

£48,000+car allowance

Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8am-5.30pm and Friday 8am-1pm

Our client is a market leading, global, interconnect specialist.  They specialise in the design and manufacture of high-quality precision components for harsh and demanding environments such as Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Marine, Nuclear and Defence.

Poised for further growth and investment, they are now seeking to recruit an Engineering Manager who will help deliver unrivalled levels of excellence. The successful applicant will ensure the company’s Mission Statement, Policies and Business Management System are implemented across all Engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring that a culture of customer focus and continual improvement exists within the Engineering department
  • Determining and implementing appropriate measures and targets for the Engineering processes in line with the Mission Statement, Strategic Objectives and Top-Level Business metrics, and reporting on such performance to the Site Director
  • Ensuring effective and appropriate communication of the performance of each management system across the Engineering department
  • Reviewing resource needs within the Engineering department and communicating such needs to the Site Director
  • Ensuring all drawings and design work is carried out to best available practise and within the constraints of the Business Management System
  • Ensuring that new Product Introduction (NPI) is carried out effectively and meets both customer and business needs
  • Ensuring that products are fit for purpose and safe for use
  • Promoting and coordinating an effective programme of materials and process research and development, in line with business need and involving development partners

Essential Qualities include but not limited to:

  • HND or HNC level qualification, or equivalent experience, in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering
  • Development / Design Engineering experience, as well as leading change and compliance management
  • Current 3D CAD Design and Simulation Toolsets experience
  • Proven track record of cost savings, productivity improvements (including KPIs), and managing and developing a team
  • Experience of production readiness process implementation, production capability process implementation and New Product Introduction and Implementation
  • Forecasting, planning and budgeting forecasting experience, as well as route cause analysis experience
  • Ability to promote and coordinate R&D programmes
  • Health and Safety knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Excellent management skills, including leadership and motivation skills
  • Employee development skills
