Manufacturing Engineer

Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8am-4.30pm and Friday 8am-1.30pm

Our client is a market leading, global, interconnect specialist. This site employs over 200 people and specialises in the design and manufacture of a diverse range of connectors and interconnect products for a highly demanding customer base in the Aerospace, Military and Industrial sectors.

Due to further growth, and investment, they are now seeking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer who will help deliver unrivalled levels of excellence.  The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Manufacturing Engineering Manager whilst playing an active role in the development of the quality engineering function and supporting customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Value added collaboration on project related documentation, in particular approval of customer requirements, design specifications, technical drawings and specifications, design verification and validation documents plus other project related documentation
  • Taking a team member and facilitation role in ensuring risk analysis are completed and all product risks are identified using DFMEAs, PFMEAs, APQP and Capability Studies as well as other risk management techniques
  • Fully complying with concern investigation and resolution processes
  • Developing, analysing and maintaining quality metrics
  • Continually working with suppliers to improve performance by implementing improvement plans and process
  • Interfacing with Customers to assess and address Customer concerns and complaints
  • Performing customer / supplier QMS audits and supporting customer / supplier quality improvements

Essential Qualities Include:

  • HNC or above level qualification in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
  • Experience using measuring equipment
  • Experience of design reviews and ensuring production problems are corrected with robust corrective actions and the product is produced to the desired quality
  • Experience of PFMEA, root cause and 8D problem solving, as well as product verification (FAIR)
  • AS9100 and related specifications experience
  • Mechanical bias knowledge with some electrical skills
  • A good understanding of the NPI process and getting products into manufacture using quality tools to eliminate risk during manufacture
  • Practical problem solving skills, including understanding manufacturing processes and solving issues on the shop floor to create robust countermeasures
  • Ability to accurately update and improve documentation, both written and electronically, in line with company procedures
